What to Expect

Coaching is not the same as therapy. Therapy is focused on connecting experiences and traumas of your past in order to better inform your present state, while coaching is aligning your present state to reach your future goals. If you're interested in pursuing therapy with Dr. Holly, please click here.

Sexual wellness and relationship coaching is a collaborative process that is present and future-oriented and uses action-driven, solution-focused techniques to encourage and promote both growth and change. Successful outcomes are dependent upon the client's willingness to clearly define goals, implement recommended strategies or techniques, and give feedback on your experience. As your sexual wellness and relationship coach, Dr. Holly will help you identify your strengths and develop them. You will be given homework after each session to address your sexual or relational concerns. She will be honest, ask direct questions, and offer recommendations based on her experience to help you move forward toward reaching your goals. Coaching is offered both to individuals and couples residing anywhere in the U.S. or abroad.

Coaching assumes a current state of mental health, and is currently not a regulated industry. It is not psychotherapy or counseling, and sessions should not serve as a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, or mental health care. If at any point during your work together Dr. Holly feels that you require a higher level of care and may be better served by another medical or mental health provider, she will discuss this with you directly and assist you in finding an appropriate provider.

 Dr. Holly Richmond

is one of North America’s leading sex therapists, serving women, men, couples and gender-diverse individuals for relationship and sexuality issues. She counsels a broad range of clients including Hollywood’s elite and prominent corporate clientele, and offers consultation services with psychotherapy interns and other therapists. Dr. Richmond works from a sex positive approach, meaning: “all sex is good sex as long as it’s consensual and pleasurable.” She is committed to helping her clients feel better—mind and body—not just behave differently.
Her therapeutic relationships are built on strong rapport, trust, non-judgment and acceptance, though she is directive and results oriented, not simply supportive. Her objective is to help clients meet their goals and move through the therapy process as quickly as possible.

Dr. Holly’s book, Reclaiming Pleasure: A Sex-Positive Guide for Moving Past Sexual Trauma and Living a Passionate Life (New Harbinger) is a groundbreaking examination of both somatic and psychological factors in survivor’s’ recovery.

Dr. Holly has been quoted in publications and media outlets including The New York Times, Prevention, CNN, Shape, Health, Forbes, Wired, NBC, A Current Affair, Men’s Health, Cosmopolitan, and Women’s Health. She is also a recognized writer and media specialist, with over 500 published works since beginning her career in journalism in 1994.

Group Sessions

Therapy is incredibly important, but it isn’t always accessible. A quality therapist can cost hundreds of dollars per session, many insurances don’t cover them, and it can take years to unpack the past. This is why Dr. Holly offers group coaching sessions with the express purpose of creating an intimate space for sharing and reflection.

Group sessions will offer:

  • Individual time in consultation with Dr. Holly
  • An opportunity to connect with peers
  • shameless space for cultivating authenticity
  • Honest talk about sex and relationships after surviving sexual trauma
